Meet the Founder

Kim Anthony
Founding Publisher
Urban Business Journal Inland Empire

"I believe opportunity changes lives. Sometimes all a person needs is one introduction, one resource, one piece of information, or one person who believes in them."

~ Kim Anthony, Publisher
Urban Business Journal · Inland Empire Edition

There are people who report on business. Then there are people who dedicate their lives to building it. Kim Anthony has spent more than two decades helping entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, and community changemakers launch organizations, secure funding, develop leaders, build strategic partnerships, and create lasting impact. Throughout her career, she has worked alongside hundreds of organizations and thousands of leaders who share one thing in common: a desire to leave their communities better than they found them.

That journey ultimately led to the creation of Urban Business Journal Inland Empire.

Kim founded Urban Business Journal because she saw an opportunity to tell a different kind of business story—one centered not on what is broken, but on what is being built.

She believes the Inland Empire is filled with remarkable entrepreneurs, visionary leaders, and "Everyday Unicorns™"—ordinary people doing extraordinary things every day. Yet too many of these stories go untold, and too many business owners miss out on grants, contracts, partnerships, training, and other opportunities simply because they never hear about them.

Urban Business Journal exists to change that.

As Publisher and Executive Editor, Kim leads UBJ with a commitment to Opportunity Journalism™—reporting that not only informs, but also inspires action, creates connections, and expands economic opportunity for entrepreneurs, small businesses, nonprofits, and the communities they serve.

Beyond the newsroom, Kim is the Founder and CEO of Urban Business Institute, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is dedicated to advancing inclusive prosperity by connecting people to the knowledge, relationships, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive. Through Urban Business Institute and its affiliated organizations, she has helped launch and strengthen hundreds of organizations, trained executive coaches, and supported leaders across business, government, education, and the nonprofit sector.

Kim is also the author of Everyday Unicorns™, a book celebrating the resilience, creativity, and determination of entrepreneurs who build businesses—and better communities—often against extraordinary odds. As a former foster youth herself, she understands firsthand the transformative power of opportunity and is passionate about opening doors for others.

Whether interviewing CEOs, spotlighting neighborhood businesses, moderating conversations with civic leaders, or making introductions that spark new partnerships, Kim is passionate about helping people discover the relationships and opportunities that can transform businesses, careers, and communities.

Her vision for Urban Business Journal is simple:

To become the Inland Empire's most trusted source for business news, meaningful relationships, practical resources, and life-changing opportunities.

Because when entrepreneurs succeed, businesses grow. When businesses grow, communities prosper. And when opportunity is shared, everyone has a chance to thrive.

Welcome to Urban Business Journal Inland Empire. We're glad you're here.
